Current Project

I took it into my head that I wanted to try to decorate a glass plate with paper from the Decopatch range, I decided on a flowery paper, as it had big flowers that could be cut out fairly easily. So far I have cut out the flowers and I intend to glue the papers onto the bottom of the plate so the shiny part of the paper can be seen through the plate.

And here is the finished plate. I am quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Making Cards

Lately I have been going through a making cards phase. I love making baby cards they seem to be so easy to do and just soo cute too. I have also been trying out some stamping, I really love the effect you can get with vellum and with using watercolour pencils and pens. I have made some cards using peel off stickers. It's not something I tend to use but thought I would try and show my customers how versatile they really are.

Decopatch

I have so fallen in love with the range of papers from Decopatch. So far I have decorated a 5ft paper mache Giraffe and auctioned it for charity. He raised £80.00 for Cancer. A lady from our local Your Move Estate agents is now the new owner of Brodie as she has named it.
I have also decorated a small paper mache chest of drawers with gold paint and pink heart paper from the range, and a metal plant pot from Ikea, which is now in the shop used as an umbrella stand.

Bowling

Okay I have not added to my Blog for some time now. I was even reminded very kindly by a customer a friend of mine. So here goes.
I do feel quiet guilty about not spending enough time as a family and doing the things we used to do before I had to work every Sat in the shop. So we went to Aberdeen Bowling a week past Sunday. I love this game and so do the boys. Sean had his friend Calvin sleeping over on the Sat night so he came too. Of course as soon as we get to a venue Sean has to start thinking about his belly!! So Nachos and dip all round. Liam said that I should scrap the picture of the the 3 Amigos eating Nachos.
I was so pleased with myself, I got a STRIKE on my very first shot. After that it went down hill from there.

Stirling Papercraft Show

After Sat evening getting up early was not on my agenda! But I didn't want to miss the show so, a drive to Stirling it was. After getting lost I eventually found where I was meant to be. The show was hosted by Trimcraft and it was the first time they had done a show in Scotland. They had a some new products on display including their own brand Dovecraft which is in the process of being re-branded with new black labels which I personally think is much nicer and trendier than the old style of packaging.
So what did I order?? Well there were some Dovecraft paper packs which are a completely new line for Dovecraft as they have never done papers before, plus they will be in 6 x 6 , 8 x 8, and 12 x 12 packs. They have some really nice Jewel Brads which I just had to have, some new templates to make petals and butterflies. Some loose sheets of 12 x 12 DCWV Far East and Pocket Full of Posies papers, which have glitter on them, just scrummy!! These new products won't be in the shop until the middle of February.
In February I am attending Stitches, the Trade Show at the NECC in Birmingham, where all the suppliers are promoting their products and I will be attending some workshops. For once I will be able to play and craft to my hearts content!!

Resolution No 4

No 4 on my resolution list was to see more of my friends. We invited our good friends with their kids round for a meal on Sat evening. Brian picked me up from work and when I got home the table was set, drinks on the ready, and the meal was all cooked, which consisted of homemade vegetable soup, spaghetti bolognaise, chocolate cheescake and strawberry pavlova. (Brian is a very good cook, even though I like to think bolognaise is my speciality!) The evening was great, drinking wine, chatting, reminiscing. I think we will have to make an effort to do it again soon, In some ways I much prefer having friends round than going out, bit more relaxing and we don't need a sitter for the kids.

Back to Work

Thursday, back to work after all the festivities, I was ever so glad to get back to the shop and gain some normality in my life gain. The shop was busier than I thought it would have been, so soon after Christmas. I managed to add some more items to the shop SALE and website, as I am planning to change my suppliers and buy in some new and exciting products over the next few months.
